Bellingham-Mt. Baker at a Glance
The Bellingham-Mount Baker area lies just south of Canada's
border with Washington.
From the coast to the lakes to the mountains, the environment surrounding Bellingham
and Mount Baker is an outdoor enthusiast's dream come true. Kayak rentals and
tours are available along the coast, offering the opportunity to see the coastal
environment up close as well as a chance to see whales that frequent these waters.
Further inland, there are hundreds of miles of trails that provide access to mountain
biking and hiking, allowing visitors to go from the sea to sky all in one day.
Depending on the time of year, there are different events that visitors can take
in, from the Bellingham
Music Festival to the annual Skagit
Valley Tulip Festival, which celebrates the spring bloom every April in Mount
Vernon. In winter, ski enthusiasts take the 56-mi (90-km) trip from Bellingham
to the Mt.
Baker Ski Resort.
