Maple Falls is a small community located approximately 30 mi (48 km) northeast of Bellingham, Washington and 18 mi (30 km) south of Abbotsford, British Columbia. The town is part of the Peaceful Valley area near Mt. Baker and Mt. Shuksan in the North Cascades and is situated along the Mt. Baker Scenic Byway. The area was settled in the late 1800s and today exists largely as a holiday area with bed and breakfasts, rental properties and cabins such as those of Mt. Baker Lodging. The timber industry has also figured significantly in the area and can be witnessed at the Black Mountain Forestry Center, which houses the historic Gerdrum Museum and offers tours and educational activities related to the history of the industry.Tourist Attractions
